Senior Claims Examiner

Location: Primarily hybrid, with in-office attendance at least two days per week for candidates near an office in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Manhattan, Scottsdale, or West Hartford; qualified remote candidates will also be considered. The role is limited to candidates located in the United States.

Salary: $80,000–$125,000 annually

What you will do

• Adjudicate assigned claims within established authority and resolve moderate to complex commercial general liability claims.
• Manage all phases of litigation, including reviewing legal filings and deploying defense counsel.
• Document claim files accurately in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Draft coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters.
• Analyze claims to set accurate reserves, identify emerging exposures and trends, and escalate issues when needed.
• Identify suspected fraudulent claims, coordinate with the special investigations unit, and participate in claims projects.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of claims handling experience in commercial general liability with an insurance carrier.
• Advanced knowledge of claims analysis, adjusting practices, claims documentation standards, and legal filings.
• Proven ability to negotiate settlements for moderate to complex claims.
• Experience mentoring and training other claims examiners.
• Advanced analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Active insurance adjuster’s license; a B.A. or B.S. degree is preferred.
