Описание вакансии
Текст:
TL;DR
Propulsion Test Engineer (Aerospace): Building and operating fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for component, engine, and stage-level propulsion testing with an accent on cryogenic and high-pressure systems, P&IDs, instrumentation, and test operations. Focus on commissioning test stands, safely conducting hotfire and other tests, reducing data, troubleshooting anomalies, and driving failures to root cause.
Location: Greater Seattle Area, on-site
Salary: $130,000–$190,000 annually
Company
is building space infrastructure using Low Earth Orbit satellites to collect sunlight, transmit energy through infrared lasers, and deliver secure, high-bandwidth optical data.
What you will do
- Design, build, commission, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for component, engine, and stage-level testing.
- Own P&IDs and take fluid-system designs from schematic through procurement, fabrication, checkout, and routine operation.
- Operate high-pressure and cryogenic systems involving LOX, LNG, and high-pressure gas.
- Write and execute test procedures as test conductor, including hazard analyses, safety controls, exclusion zones, and abort criteria.
- Instrument tests through sensor selection, calibration, data acquisition, and appropriate sample-rate definition.
- Reduce and present test data, investigate anomalies to root cause, and manage stand project schedules and long-lead items.
Requirements
- 4–8 years of relevant test experience in propulsion, fluids, energetics, or industrial systems.
- First-principles knowledge of fluids, thermodynamics, and structures.
- Experience creating P&IDs and building the systems they describe.
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems in hazardous or high-pressure environments.
- Experience writing and operating test procedures, performing data reduction, writing control sequences, and scripting; Python is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a similar field. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.
Nice to have
- Experience designing cryogenic fluid systems from scratch.
- Hands-on liquid rocket engine hotfire experience.
- LOX and methane or LNG experience, including cleanliness, materials compatibility, and ignition considerations.
- Control-system experience with PLCs, sequencing, interlocks, valves, and actuators.
- Fabrication literacy in welding, machining, and tube bending, plus structural, proof, burst, or environmental testing experience.
Culture & Benefits
- Equity in Corp.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan, paid time off, and 10 paid holidays annually.
- Paid parental leave and relocation assistance where applicable.
- Daily office lunch and a stocked kitchen with beverages and snacks.
