Propulsion Test Responsible Engineer I (Aerospace): Developing and executing integrated rocket engine test campaigns for Terran R with an accent on test planning, hotfire operations, hardware evaluation, and propulsion systems analysis. Focus on troubleshooting complex test behavior, reviewing data, writing test sequences and code, and supporting engine qualification and future flight campaigns.

Location: Full-time onsite in Long Beach, California, United States; approximately 25% travel to test and launch sites. Rotating first- and second-shift schedules, occasional weekend work for critical milestones.

Salary: $90,000–$136,000 USD per year, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Serve as the Responsible Engineer for propulsion test articles and own integrated engine test campaigns.
  • Develop test plans with product owners and execute campaigns with the Stennis test team.
  • Operate and evaluate new and existing test article designs, including hotfire tests and hands-on hardware work.
  • Write test sequences and code, review test data, design tooling, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Support engine subsystem investigations, system analysis and simulation, trade studies, and team efficiency projects.
  • Contribute to stage testing and flight campaigns, including launch console operations and defining test objectives and flight CONOPS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, technology, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Prior internship or research lab experience in complex engineering system development or testing is required.
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience working collaboratively.
  • Ability to lead high-ownership projects to completion on ambitious schedules, including through unconventional solutions.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to test operations environments.
  • Working knowledge of combustion devices, valves, heat exchangers, or instrumentation.
