Supplier Development Engineer, Electronics (Space Electronics)

Location: Hybrid role requiring candidates to be located near Denver, Colorado, or Long Beach, California; some work must be performed onsite.

Base salary: $105,000–$160,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead supplier qualification, performance management, and continuous improvement for electronics, PCBAs, cable harnesses, box build assemblies, and power systems.
• Conduct technical audits, capability and risk assessments, first article inspections, and supplier process, system, and product audits.
• Develop supplier quality programs, scorecards, quality clauses, purchase-order flow-down requirements, and performance management tools.
• Evaluate PCBA fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, conformal coating, potting, and box build integration capabilities.
• Resolve electronics quality escapes through root-cause analysis and corrective action, while implementing lean initiatives such as value stream mapping, 5S, and kaizen.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management to support NPI, supplier readiness, dual sourcing, and supply-chain risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, or relevant work experience.
• 4–7 years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering in aerospace, defense, medical, or automotive electronics.
• Hands-on knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721, IPC-A-620, and relevant MIL-STD electronics testing protocols.
• Experience with supplier audits, qualification programs, capability and risk assessments, 8D, CAPA, SCAR, supplier scorecards, and quality clauses.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, cable and harness drawings, BOMs, and electronics test specifications; familiarity with AOI, X-ray, ICT, functional, and parametric testing.
• Must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements by being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations. Willingness to travel to supplier sites approximately 30–50% is required.

Nice to have

• IPC CIS or CIT certification, Lean or Six Sigma certification, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Space-technology electronics supply chain or flight hardware development experience.
• Experience with power electronics, environmental stress screening, burn-in, TVAC, EMI/EMC testing, SPC, Cpk, MSA, and test yield analysis.
• Familiarity with NASA workmanship standards, military electronics standards, supply-chain risk management, component obsolescence, and dual-sourcing strategies.
• Experience in a high-growth startup or New Space environment.
