Development Manufacturing Manager I/II (Aerospace)

Location: San Luis Obispo, California, United States. Employment requires verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States through E-Verify.

Salary: $152,000–$195,000 USD annually, depending on level. Manager I: $152,000–$176,000; Manager II: $172,000–$195,000.

What you will do

• Lead manufacturing execution for NPI, prototype, first-of-kind, and early production builds.
• Develop build plans, staffing strategies, priorities, and resource requirements for assigned programs or portfolios.
• Establish manufacturing readiness across materials, tooling, work instructions, equipment, personnel, quality, and production systems.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, and Program Management to improve manufacturability and assembly processes.
• Identify manufacturing constraints and drive improvements in safety, quality, schedule, yield, rework, cycle time, capacity, and material readiness.
• Lead the transition from development manufacturing to repeatable production and develop manufacturing personnel and leaders.

Requirements

• Manager I: 6–10 years of experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, production, manufacturing engineering, NPI, or prototype manufacturing, including 2–4 years of technical or manufacturing leadership.
• Manager II: 10–15+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership across supervisors, managers, or complex technical organizations.
• Experience with complex electromechanical products involving mechanical and avionics/electrical assembly.
• Demonstrated experience moving development or prototype hardware toward repeatable production and managing manufacturing readiness.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing planning, drawings, bills of material, work instructions, tooling, configuration changes, production ramp, capacity planning, and operational scaling.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and complete employment eligibility verification through E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
• Experience with ERP/MES systems, Lean manufacturing, structured problem solving, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing-readiness assessments.
• Experience leading multiple programs or portfolio-level manufacturing organizations.
• Experience developing business cases for capital, infrastructure, automation, tooling, equipment, or capacity investments.
• Master’s degree or MBA.
