Accountant (US Experience)

Location: Hybrid, 3 days in the Vancouver office

Salary: $62,000–$73,000 CAD annually, depending on experience

What you will do

• Own the billing and accounts receivable lifecycle for US partner schools and ensure processes scale with business growth.
• Monitor aging reports and billing data, identify recurring issues and negative trends, and flag risks to leadership.
• Partner with US Account Managers to resolve billing hurdles, client disputes, and customer inquiries through root-cause analysis.
• Audit and optimize the Order-to-Cash cycle, including invoicing and cash reconciliation.
• Reconcile corporate credit cards and expenses, support accounts payable through invoice verification, expense coding, and disbursement runs.
• Assist with educator payroll onboarding and enforce internal finance policies and operational controls.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with US billing and payroll, sales tax, or cross-border financial complexities.
• Highly proficient Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and management of large datasets.
• Strong data analysis skills and the ability to identify causes of payment, billing, and operational issues.
• Systems-thinking approach with an ability to structure workflows, build controls, and improve processes.
• Ability to communicate complex financial issues to non-finance stakeholders and collaborate on resolutions.
• Analytical, efficiency-focused approach with attention to user experience and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xero or large-scale ERP systems.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, or SQL.
