Mechanical Field Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: On-site full-time at an active Giga data center construction site; the specific site depends on current project needs, with potential relocation or extended assignment to other active sites as the portfolio grows.

What you will do

• Identify, write, track, and close RFIs for mechanical construction scope.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and equipment schedules to identify discrepancies and missing information.
• Identify and document potential change order conditions, prepare requests, and support pricing, negotiation, approval, and resolution.
• Coordinate daily with the Mechanical Superintendent, design teams, project controls, project managers, engineers of record, and subcontractors.
• Support field layout and installation checks to verify compliance with approved drawings and resolutions.
• Coordinate with commissioning and controls teams and assist with material takeoffs and procurement follow-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a field engineer, project engineer, or in a similar role on mechanical construction projects.
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, including CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, piping, and BMS/controls.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical specifications, and equipment schedules.
• Experience writing and managing RFIs and change orders on construction projects.
• Strong organization and written communication skills for tracking and documenting multiple technical issues on a fast-moving job site.

Nice to have

• Experience with data center or other mission-critical facility construction.
• Familiarity with commissioning processes and the effect of RFIs and change orders on FPTs and IST.
• Experience with Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, or similar project management software.
• OSHA 30 certification.
