Mechanical Design Engineer - Data Centers

Location: United States; on-site presence at data centers is required.

Salary: $115,000–$225,000 USD annual base compensation; total OTE compensation may include bonus.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical engineering evaluations for data center opportunities and conduct technical due diligence on existing and new facilities.
• Assess cooling infrastructure, HVAC systems, chiller plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, and critical mechanical equipment.
• Evaluate air-cooled, liquid-cooled, and hybrid cooling solutions for high-density AI and hyperscale environments.
• Provide mechanical feasibility recommendations, Go/No-Go input, capacity assessments, and construction-readiness validation.
• Evaluate equipment availability, vendor capabilities, lead times, deployment risks, and capital expenditure trade-offs.
• Partner with engineering teams, vendors, and consultants on cooling topology, mechanical design strategy, and equipment selection.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data center mechanical engineering, MEP design, or mission-critical mechanical systems.
• Experience with hyperscale data center or AI infrastructure development, liquid cooling systems, chiller plants, and CRAH/CRAC systems.
• Experience with BMS controls integration, mechanical systems commissioning, and colocation or build-to-suit infrastructure due diligence.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or similar professional certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to independently evaluate complex systems and establish technical processes.
