TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Centers) (Mission-Critical Mechanical Engineering): Providing full-lifecycle mechanical engineering support for data center infrastructure from site design and construction through commissioning, turnover, and enduring operations with an accent on cooling systems, redundancy, maintainability, and asset reliability. Focus on troubleshooting live mechanical systems, leading root cause analysis, improving maintenance standards, and translating commissioning and operational findings into scalable engineering standards.

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States

Company

hirify.global develops digital asset infrastructure and operates data center infrastructure for AI and high-performance computing workloads.

What you will do

  • Provide mechanical engineering support across data center site design, construction, commissioning, turnover, and enduring operations.
  • Review cooling plants, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, heat exchangers, piping, valves, water treatment systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Validate commissioning plans, functional performance tests, integrated systems tests, controls sequences, alarms, set points, trends, and BMS visibility.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for incidents, equipment failures, abnormal operating conditions, capacity constraints, and reliability concerns.
  • Lead root cause analyses and develop corrective and preventive actions to reduce repeat failure modes and operational risk.
  • Develop maintenance standards, asset criticality frameworks, lifecycle plans, engineering standards, operating procedures, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 8–10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, including at least 5 years in data centers, mission-critical facilities, central plants, industrial facilities, or other 24x7 high-availability environments.
  • Experience across mechanical design review, construction support, commissioning, turnover, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of cooling plants, air handling systems, pumps, heat rejection equipment, piping, valves, controls, and redundancy configurations.
  • Experience with mechanical drawings, equipment submittals, sequence-of-operations documents, commissioning scripts, test reports, O&M manuals, and maintenance documentation.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, asset lifecycle management, and operational risk assessment.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of experience in large-scale data center, mission-critical, or multi-site critical infrastructure environments.
  • Professional Engineer license or Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier concepts, ASHRAE guidance, OEM maintenance requirements, and data center availability expectations.
  • Experience with BMS platforms, predictive maintenance, thermal modeling, CFD, CMMS data quality, or reliability analytics.
  • Experience developing SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, RCA templates, training materials, and engineering governance processes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Flexible time off with unlimited paid vacation days.
  • 14 company-paid holidays and company-paid sick leave.
  • Company-paid health and protective benefits for employees, partners, and dependents.
  • 3% 401(k) company contribution and paid parental leave.
  • Virtual coaching and counseling sessions, daily in-office snacks, and employee resource groups.
