Engineering Manager - AI Platform (AI)

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and grow a small team of AI/ML and platform engineers.
• Own the roadmap and delivery of shared AI platform services across public-sector SaaS products.
• Build reusable GenAI services, AI agents, orchestration, RAG, semantic search, tool calling, MCP integrations, and workflow automation.
• Define platform standards, golden paths, and shared frameworks for engineering teams.
• Modernize microservices, event-driven systems, API-first services, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD across .NET, Python, and cloud-native environments.
• Establish AI governance and safety practices, including evaluations, guardrails, tracing, PII protection, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Requirements

• 6–8 years of engineering experience, including 1–2 years leading as a manager or tech lead; strong senior or staff engineers transitioning into management are considered.
• Experience shipping shared or platform services used by other engineers.
• Hands-on experience with GenAI/LLMs, RAG, vector databases, and semantic search.
• Strong .NET and Python skills for APIs, backend systems, and AI services.
• Foundations in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first design, IaC, containers, CI/CD, and cloud-native SaaS.
• Working knowledge of AI governance, safety, communication, and cross-functional engineering leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI platforms, internal AI tooling, or an AI Center of Excellence.
• Experience with agents, A2A, MCP servers, tool registries, agent memory, and observability.
• Experience delivering products in regulated or public-sector environments.
• Familiarity with Langfuse, LangSmith, MLflow, Phoenix, OpenSearch, Snowflake, or Databricks.
