Director, Software Engineering (B2B SaaS)

Location: Hybrid in Los Angeles, California; primarily Los Angeles-based candidates are sought.

Base salary: $186,000–$282,000 per year, plus additional compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Oversee multiple software engineering teams designing and delivering new and existing B2B SaaS products.
• Partner with product, design, sales, marketing, customer success, HR, recruiting, and finance teams across the product-to-customer journey.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, software engineers, and quality engineers.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and retain engineering and management talent.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to improve department processes, practices, culture, and delivery.
• Promote software quality through automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps, Agile, Lean Software Engineering, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering management experience at manager, senior manager, and/or director level.
• 3+ years of director-level experience managing engineering managers.
• 3+ years in a B2B SaaS engineering department and 5+ years as a software engineering individual contributor.
• Experience leading and growing engineering departments with 50+ personnel.
• 10+ years working with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP.
• Experience managing distributed and remote engineering teams, performance reviews, coaching, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.
• Experience with AWS technologies and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with TDD, DevOps, CI/CD, Lean Software Engineering, continuous improvement, and learning cultures.
• FinTech experience.
