Director, Engineering

Location: New York City, Boston, Buffalo, or East Coast Remote, United States; hybrid schedule with three in-office days and two remote workdays

Base salary in New York: $230,000–$250,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams with responsibility for software development, delivery, software quality, SDLC, and people management.
• Align teams with business and strategic goals, forecast resources, and support product release planning.
• Manage incidents, problems, changes, escalations, SLAs, and engineering governance across teams.
• Build and develop teams, conduct performance reviews, and mentor engineers and engineering leaders.
• Coordinate planning, prioritization, estimation, execution, delivery metrics, and status communication with stakeholders.
• Act as the primary liaison with Product, Product Owners, Tech Leads, and other business stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience, including 5 years at Senior Engineering Manager level.
• Experience working in fast-paced Agile environments and leading distributed teams across multiple time zones.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale, low-latency, high-performance distributed applications.
• Experience with Hadoop, Kafka, Scylla, Cassandra, or comparable large-scale data technologies.
• Experience with Rust, Go, Spark, or similar technologies.
