Manager, Sensor Integration & Cleaning Hardware

Location: Foster City, California, United States; on-site

Base salary: $233,000–$324,000 per year, plus potential RSUs, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, and sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, recruit, and grow a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
• Own sensor integration and sensor cleaning hardware programs from concept through validation, launch, and fleet support.
• Set technical direction across mechanical packaging, electrical integration, controls, and system-level architecture.
• Partner with sensor performance, perception, test, manufacturing, and quality teams on reliability and manufacturability.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, and execution across multiple concurrent programs.
• Drive design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA, validation planning, and communication of technical risks to engineering leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering, including sensor systems, sensor cleaning, exteriors, or closures.
• 3+ years of direct engineering management experience, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Experience leading hardware programs from concept through production, including specifications, supplier selection, DFMEA, DV/PV testing, and manufacturing readiness.
• Technical fluency in mechanical design, CAD, tolerance stack-up, fluid or pneumatic systems, sensor interfaces, wiring and harness design, and controls.
• Experience managing program scope, budget, schedule, and multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and experience presenting technical tradeoffs and program status to engineering leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with camera, lidar, or radar systems and environmental or contamination challenges.
• Experience with CFD for fluid or airflow-based cleaning system design.
• Background in autonomous vehicle or ADAS hardware programs.
• Experience scaling teams or transitioning hardware programs from prototype to production.
