Principal Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Austin, TX, New York City, NY, or Washington, DC

Salary: $220,000 - $303,000 (for specific US locations)

What you will do

• Lead the architectural evolution and multi-year strategy for the Workers control plane.
• Re-engineer core services to support exponential traffic growth and platform scale.
• Architect foundational primitives that unlock new product capabilities.
• Own the stability, efficiency, and reliability of core customer-facing systems.
• Establish rigorous benchmarks for API responsiveness and platform availability.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers while raising overall engineering standards.

Requirements

• Deep experience using Go in production environments.
• Proven history of architecting and managing massive distributed infrastructures.
• Strong ability to design and evolve RESTful APIs with a focus on developer experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Demonstrated organizational influence through design leadership and cross-team collaboration.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++ or Rust.
• Familiarity with GraphQL or RPC.
• Experience with hirify.global Workers or Pages.
• Product mindset with experience engaging directly with customers.
