Applications Engineer - Force Sensors (Semiconductor)

Location: San Jose, California, USA — hybrid, with 4 days in the office and Fridays remote

What you will do

• Integrate force-sensing products into customer devices in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, software, MEMS, and CMOS teams.
• Develop schematics, PCB layouts, Gerber files, bills of materials, fabrication notes, prototypes, evaluation kits, and sensor modules.
• Debug fabricated boards, modules, and prototypes; perform hardware bring-up and resolve electrical and system-level issues.
• Support sensor-level and system-level testing, characterization, competitor analysis, and failure analysis with R&D.
• Provide multidisciplinary technical support and training to OEM customers, sales teams, and FAEs from concept through mass production.
• Create datasheets, application notes, design guides, and white papers while collecting customer feedback to improve products and roadmaps.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in electronic design spanning proof of concept through mass production.
• Proficiency with Altium, Cadence, or Siemens for schematic capture and PCB layout, with experience fabricating multiple boards.
• Hands-on experience with analog and mixed-signal circuitry, sensors, ADCs, embedded systems, firmware, sensor signal processing, or I2C/SPI interfaces.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: C, C++, or Python.
• Experience with laboratory equipment, technical writing for electronic devices, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; international and domestic travel of up to 10% is required.

Nice to have

• Algorithm development experience.
• Experience in the semiconductor or automotive industries.
• Experience with AI/ML tools such as Claude.
