Senior Staff Engineer, Lab Operations

Location: United States; on-site. The role may require work at colocation and data center facilities, including physical hardware handling.

What you will do

• Manage daily operations across hardware and software labs, including receiving, commissioning, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers, racks, switches, and other equipment.
• Partner with lab owners and engineering stakeholders to forecast capacity, equipment, space, and infrastructure needs against project roadmaps.
• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, switches, cabling, and lab network infrastructure.
• Build asset databases and dashboards, maintain inventory records, conduct physical audits, and manage procurement and vendor relationships.
• Triage engineering requests, track project status, coordinate with hardware, firmware, and validation teams, and improve operational processes.

Requirements

• 10–12 years of hands-on experience in lab operations, hardware or test infrastructure, systems administration, or data center/networking operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience with servers, racks, switches, lab equipment, and physical hardware deployment.
• Ability to rack and stack hardware, move and lift equipment, and work on-site at colocation or data center facilities as required.
• Working knowledge of L2/L3 networking, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, firewalls, and cabling, with the ability to troubleshoot connectivity and systems issues independently.
• Experience with lab planning and forecasting, inventory and asset management, project organization, procurement, vendor management, and cross-functional communication.

• Experience in a networking, server, infrastructure, hardware, or semiconductor company.
• Scripting and automation skills.
• Previous experience managing a similar lab environment.
• Project tracking and organization experience.
