Infrastructure & IT Systems Engineer (AI)

Location: Boston, MA; onsite; full-time

What you will do

• Own and improve internal IT systems, SaaS administration, identity and access workflows, endpoint management, and employee support.
• Build AI-assisted automation and self-service for onboarding, offboarding, access requests, troubleshooting, and recurring operational work.
• Operate the AWS environment, including networking, IAM, infrastructure as code, reliability, storage, backups, and cost management, taking full ownership after a three-to-six-month handoff.
• Support GPU and Slurm research workloads, shared Linux hosts, production applications, and research services.
• Improve CI/CD, repository controls, observability, deployment safety, incident response, and recovery.
• Maintain GDPR and SOC 2 controls, including access reviews, audit evidence, encryption, backups, data retention, and incident response.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience owning internal IT systems, including identity and access, SaaS administration, endpoint management, automation, and user support.
• Demonstrated use of AI and LLM tooling to eliminate or automate operational work.
• Experience securing endpoints with MDM, EDR, or comparable fleet-management tools.
• Practical scripting and automation skills; Python experience is preferred.
• Linux fluency with SSH, permissions, services, and log-based diagnosis, plus working knowledge of AWS IAM, EC2, and S3.
• Clear written communication for runbooks, policies, and documentation used by scientists and non-specialists.

Nice to have

• Deeper AWS experience, including VPC networking and infrastructure as code with CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
• Experience building production services or internal automation in Python, including LLM agents, reusable skills, or MCP servers.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, identity or SSO platforms, Slurm, GPU batch computing, or cloud cost management.
• Technical ownership of GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, GxP, or comparable compliance programs.
• Startup or fast-paced interdisciplinary experience.
