TL;DR
Fluids Engineer Level 1 (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, testing, and qualifying propulsion and vehicle fluid hardware from concept through flight with an accent on valves, feed systems, pressure controls, pneumatic systems, and fluid storage. Focus on performing fluid and structural analysis, resolving hardware anomalies, and validating components through proof, burst, leak, flow, cycle-life, vibration, hot-fire, and fill/drain testing.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or otherwise meet the stated ITAR protected-person or authorization requirements. Relocation assistance may be available.

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 annually

Company

hirify.global is a space infrastructure startup developing Low Earth Orbit satellites that collect sunlight, transmit energy through infrared lasers, and provide secure high-bandwidth optical data.

What you will do

  • Own a fluid subsystem from concept through design, analysis, build, integration, testing, and flight.
  • Design valves, fluid routing architectures, feed systems, pressure controls, pneumatic systems, and fluid storage hardware for rocket engines and vehicles.
  • Optimize designs for mass, pressure drop, leakage, proof and burst performance, cycle life, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
  • Perform hand calculations, FEA, tolerance stack-ups, pressure-drop and flow sizing, and thermal-fluid analysis.
  • Define and execute qualification and acceptance tests, including proof, burst, leak, flow, cycle-life, and vibration campaigns.
  • Support manufacturing, engine and vehicle integration, hot-fire testing, fill/drain operations, anomaly investigations, and hardware refurbishment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience designing fluid-system hardware for flight vehicles or high-performance hardware; internships, co-ops, competition, and research experience count.
  • Experience taking hardware from concept through build, integration, and test.
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo, including engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Must meet U.S. citizenship, permanent-residency, protected-person, or applicable ITAR authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of fluid-system hardware design experience, especially with rocket engines, launch vehicles, spacecraft propulsion, valves, or pressure regulators.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids, propellant compatibility, oxygen-compatible design, and relevant AIAA, ASME, SAE, or MIL-spec standards.
  • Hands-on prototyping, machining, brazing, welding, hot-fire testing, or vehicle fill/drain operations experience.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, hardware-focused startup or early-stage program.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on work directly with manufacturing and technicians on the factory floor.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan, paid time off, 10 paid holidays, and paid parental leave.
  • Equity in hirify.global and possible relocation assistance.
  • Daily office lunch and a stocked kitchen with beverages and snacks.
