Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite. Travel for vehicle test support is required, including extended travel of up to one month for final vehicle testing.

Salary: $112,340–$230,472 USD per year, depending on level and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and commission fluid-system ground support equipment and test stands.
  • Develop and execute test plans for vehicle checkouts, fluid systems, instrumentation, and high-pressure testing.
  • Act as test director, provide status updates, and lead handoff meetings.
  • Conduct PDRs, CDRs, and TRRs before design and test execution.
  • Create mechanical, fluid, and instrumentation schematics and document non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with engineers, subject-matter experts, technicians, and quality teams to solve complex system problems and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, electrical, or a similar engineering field.
  • 4+ years of related engineering experience with hands-on hardware integration and testing.
  • Experience working with technicians, running multi-person operations, and writing test plans and procedures.
  • Ability to provide go/no-go judgments with clear rationale and to troubleshoot new and existing systems.
  • Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export-control regulations or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, extended hours, weekends, and travel for vehicle test support as needed; physical ability to work in tight spaces and lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.

Nice to have

  • Experience with pressure testing, fluid-system design, proof and leak checks, and high-pressure gas systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3, D.O.O., API, NFPA, SMC-S-016, GEVS NASA-STD-7000a, and MIL-STD-810G.
  • Experience with instrumentation, precision measurement devices, DAQ systems, closed-loop control, and P&ID development.
  • Experience with structural design and analysis of test fixtures, NX, Teamcenter, SVN, Git, Smartsheet, MS Project, JIRA, or Confluence.
  • Experience performing structured root-cause analysis and working across cross-functional engineering teams.
