Electrical Systems Engineer (Nuclear Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Deliver electrical engineering activities across low-voltage and high-voltage systems.
• Support system engineering for energy evacuation systems and provide electrical expertise to building pilots for the Power Evacuation Platform and Electrical Building.
• Prepare, review, and accept technical deliverables for major electrical contracts covering power transmission, hydrochlorination, and plant demineralisation.
• Provide back-office engineering support during commissioning phases at HPC.
• Liaise with the Joint Design Office to resolve technical queries efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent military experience.
• Proven experience in electrical systems engineering across HV and LV systems.
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
• Knowledge of power distribution systems and electrical design standards.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
• The role may require security clearance and completion of Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.

Nice to have

• Experience in nuclear or other highly regulated industries, including energy, oil and gas, or defence.
• Knowledge of CI-BOP scope, energy evacuation systems, electrical buildings, substations, and power evacuation platforms.
• Experience with commissioning, technical documentation, contractor deliverables, and technical acceptance processes.
• Knowledge of UK and international electrical standards, including IEC, BS, and EDF standards.
• Chartered status or progress toward CEng through IET or an equivalent institution.
