TL;DR
Project Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting space suit design projects by coordinating research, design, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and operations with an accent on technical planning, scheduling, resourcing, and project controls. Focus on managing scope, risks, budgets, vendor negotiations, hardware development, design verification, and compliance with engineering requirements.

Location: Webster, Texas, United States; onsite at a customer facility

What you will do

  • Lead or facilitate project phases including research, design, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and operations.
  • Develop, track, and manage project forecasts, scope, risks, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate internal project reviews, technical integration, and collaboration across departments.
  • Manage procurement activities, including requirements, design specifications, proposals, quotes, contracts, change orders, and invoices.
  • Oversee contractors, designers, vendors, and internal teams to maintain project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and compliance.
  • Review plans, inspect fabrications, conduct investigations, and provide recommendations for ongoing development projects.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of recent, related work experience.
  • Expert use of MS Project.
  • Experience leading contract and vendor negotiations and managing procurement and legal processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organizational, teamwork, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

Nice to have

  • Project management experience in aerospace and mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with hardware development and design verification.
  • Experience with NASA in spacecraft design and human system integration.
