Gear Cutting - Night Shift (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. Training follows a day-shift pattern before transitioning to night shifts.

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and monitor conventional and CNC gear shapers and hobbers.
• Install gear shaper cutters, align workpieces on arbors or chucks, and adjust machine parameters.
• Cut precise internal and external gear teeth and splines to close aerospace tolerances.
• Perform first-off inspections and complete quality documentation.
• Inspect finished gears using micrometers, vernier calipers, and Kling gear-testing equipment.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and gear data.

Requirements

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship and apprentice-trained background.
• More than five years of experience operating different gear-cutting and gear-shaper machines, including LFS and Lorenz.
• Previous machine-shop experience in engineering or manufacturing; aerospace experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and machine-tool setup.
• Proficiency with precision measurement and inspection equipment to achieve drawing tolerances.
• Ability to self-certify and hold a quality stamp after the qualifying period.
