Mechanical Technician (Aerospace)

Location: Reading, UK (Hybrid)

What you will do

• Perform precision mechanical assembly of satellite structures, subsystems, and propulsion components.
• Apply and record fastener torques using calibrated tooling according to strict procedures.
• Maintain cleanroom operations, including monitoring, gowning, and logging to ISO class requirements.
• Build mechanical test fixtures, jigs, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) from drawings.
• Support structural test campaigns, including vibration, shock, and static load testing.
• Manage Goods In inspection for incoming mechanical parts and maintain hardware traceability records.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience in precision mechanical assembly of high-reliability hardware.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, including GD&T callouts.
• Practical experience working in a cleanroom or ISO-classified environment.
• Experience building and operating mechanical test fixtures and GSE.
• Strong attention to detail and discipline in documentation and traceability.
• Must be able to work onsite in Reading, UK (Visa sponsorship and relocation support available).

Nice to have

• Experience in the space industry or satellite assembly.
• Familiarity with ECSS workmanship standards (ECSS-Q-ST-70).
• Experience with MLI and thermal blanket installation.
• Basic CAD literacy (SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Experience with propulsion system assembly or pressure systems.
