Sr. Customs Rater (Logistics)

What you will do

• Prepare and submit import and export customs declarations and verify invoices, packing lists, permits, licenses, and supporting documentation.
• Classify goods using tariff codes, review product descriptions, and assess customs values, duties, and taxes.
• Coordinate customs clearance activities with internal teams, customs brokers, carriers, vendors, customers, and third-party providers.
• Track shipment data, clearance status, discrepancies, delayed clearances, and Day 5 non-conformance or compliance issues.
• Resolve incorrect classifications, documentation errors, and CHB data discrepancies, escalating complex issues when necessary.
• Support process improvements, reporting, performance analysis, documentation standards, and team training.

Requirements

• Experience with customs documentation, import and export entries, tariff classification, and customs valuation.
• Knowledge of international, federal, and local customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
• Ability to verify shipment data and maintain accurate, organized customs records for audits.
• Ability to collaborate with customs brokers, CHB, operations, finance, customers, carriers, vendors, and senior customs personnel.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, reporting, and issue-resolution skills.
