Systems Engineer, zManaged Services

Location: Remote in the United States

Provides IBM z technology solutions, managed services, implementation support, and technical consulting for business clients.

What you will do

• Provide IBM z-related systems support for project and managed-service engagements.
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve customer issues, including escalation to software vendors.
• Implement, customize, debug, and tune system software in IBM z environments.
• Provide storage management, disaster recovery, hardware upgrade, performance, and capacity-monitoring services.
• Document customer environments and collaborate with internal, external, and client resources to deliver solutions.
• Support proposals, presentations, service-opportunity identification, and trusted-advisor engagements with clients.

Requirements

• Experience maintaining IBM z environments in-house or as part of a managed services team.
• Strong systems programming experience with IBM z environments, including IBM installation and maintenance procedures, core tools, utilities, and z-related ISV products.
• Ability to work with IBM UNIX System Services and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in customer-facing environments with strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, follow procedures, and travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Ten or more years of z-related experience across operations, applications, or systems programming.
• Experience with DB2, CICS, telecommunications, security, automation, mainframe-compatible programming languages, Java, or WLM.
• IBM Specialist certification or related industry certifications.
