Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer (Linux/Networking): Building the Linux-based edge appliance runtime and distributed control plane for One Appliance with an accent on secure networking dataplane, fleet control/state management, and safe device lifecycle operations. Focus on designing resilient, observable systems that tolerate partial failures and deliver customer-critical traffic with production ownership and technical leadership.
Company
builds a global network that protects and accelerates internet applications without requiring customers to install software or change code.
What you will do
- Design and implement end-to-end capabilities across the cloud control plane, Linux appliance runtime, telemetry pipeline, and deployment environments (physical, virtual, and public cloud).
- Develop and harden the appliance dataplane and networking platform using technologies such as IPsec, MASQUE, eBPF, and Linux kernel networking primitives.
- Build distributed control-plane and state-management systems for safe configuration/commands delivery, intermittent connectivity tolerance, and zero-touch fleet operation.
- Secure the device lifecycle: hardware-backed identity, attestation, secure boot, immutable OS images, credential rotation, and staged OTA upgrades with safe rollback.
- Make operability a product feature via telemetry, diagnostics, synthetic tests, support bundles, and remote operations.
- Own production outcomes and lead across teams by setting architectural direction, writing proposals, conducting reviews, mentoring engineers, and driving rollout/monitoring/incident follow-up.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating complex production systems.
- Strong software engineering skills in Rust, Go, TypeScript, or a comparable language, with willingness to work across the stack.
- Strong Linux systems and networking knowledge (routing, TCP/IP, network namespaces, service supervision, firewall, packet/flow debugging) and secure transport/tunneling tech such as IPsec, WireGuard, GRE, or MASQUE.
- Experience building both Linux-based systems and cloud services, with debugging across network, device, tunnel, control-plane, and upstream-service boundaries.
- Experience designing distributed control planes and reconciliation/desired-state systems for large intermittently connected fleets.
- Security judgment for software deployed inside customer networks (threat modeling, least privilege, credential/key handling, supply-chain integrity, secure lifecycle design).
Culture & Benefits
- Benefits for employees in the United States; benefits may vary for employees based outside the U.S.
- Medical/Rx, dental, vision insurance; flexible spending accounts; employee assistance and mental health support.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan and employee stock participation/equity plan eligibility.
- Flexible paid time off covering vacation and sick leave, plus parental and other leave programs.
- May require an in-person interview at a office or hub during later stages.
Hiring process
- Interview process includes evaluation steps leading to an offer stage.
- Applicants progressing to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a office or hub.
