Presales Network Solution Architect (Networking and Network Security)

Location: Remote; workplace type: Hybrid. The position title references Portland, Maine.

What you will do

• Lead client discovery sessions and translate business goals, technical requirements, and constraints into scalable network and security solutions.
• Design architectures across routing and switching, SD-WAN, SASE/SSE, wireless, data center and campus fabrics, segmentation, NAC, and next-generation firewalls.
• Develop solution narratives, cost models, estimates, proposals, technical presentations, and Statements of Work.
• Validate scope, feasibility, resources, costs, and timelines with delivery, engineering, specialty, vendor, and distribution teams.
• Lead internal handoffs and act as an escalation point for complex network design decisions.
• Create reusable reference designs, mentor Solution Architects, and contribute to presales process improvements.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in IT solution design, network architecture, or technical presales, including complex multi-workstream pursuits.
• In-depth enterprise networking and network security expertise, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs/VXLAN, QoS, multicast, and network automation.
• Hands-on architecture experience with Cisco, Juniper, HPE Aruba, and Fortinet platforms.
• Experience designing SD-WAN, SASE/SSE, Zero Trust network access, segmentation, and multi-practice solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud connectivity, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, multi-cloud and hybrid cloud architectures, Terraform or Ansible, and observability platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience; strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Expert-level Cisco, Juniper, HPE Aruba, or Fortinet certification.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, VMware, TOGAF, ITIL, or other service management certifications.
• Previous experience with an MSP, VAR, or systems integrator.
• Experience serving financial services, healthcare, retail, education, or public-sector organizations.
