Specialist, Direct Procurement - Exterior Commodity (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; 5 days per week in the office, with occasional remote work as needed. Travel and in-person collaboration are required from time to time. The role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

Salary: $90,000–$112,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Identify and evaluate suppliers for parts and services, including pre-sourcing audits.
• Develop sourcing strategies and long-term business plans for assigned exterior commodities and lead sourcing through contract award.
• Prepare and negotiate contractual documents and nomination agreements while meeting material cost and tooling targets.
• Manage supplier industrialization during pre-production as a program manager, ensuring timing, cost, quality, and project requirements are met.
• Evaluate technical changes and coordinate supplier readiness for mass production with Quality, Engineering, and Logistics.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance using key performance metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in an automotive environment, preferably in purchasing.
• Experience negotiating automotive exterior commodity purchasing agreements.
• Knowledge of automotive, manufacturing, or related industries and experience managing supplier performance.
• Program management, analytical, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple workstreams and organizational levels.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive purchasing ERP systems and processes.
• Familiarity with the OEM automotive supply base and supplier community.
• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
