TL;DR
Sr. Specialist, Vehicle Serviceability Engineer (Automotive): Developing vehicle repair concepts and serviceability strategies for electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with an accent on body and frame repair, drive-system serviceability, mobile service, and OTA updates. Focus on validating repair concepts, coordinating parts and test planning, and translating technical issues into repair processes and engineering specifications.

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular attendance at meetings and events in Columbia, South Carolina, and Fremont, California. Approximately 10% domestic and international travel; a valid driver's license and passport are required.

Base salary: $130,000–$160,000 annually. California base salary range: $143,000–$176,000. Eligible for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Provide vehicle program inputs based on service strategy, customer journey, and cost objectives.
  • Develop and document repair concepts for body and frame systems, drive systems, mobile service, and OTA-enabled service.
  • Partner with engineering teams and suppliers to resolve engineering, functional, and business challenges.
  • Review technical specifications and service procedures, providing feedback on vehicle design, assembly, repair techniques, and service parts strategy.
  • Coordinate parts availability, component levels, and repairability test planning across prototype and serial-production stages.
  • Support field repairs and technical information sharing with suppliers, insurers, body shops, tool providers, and the future Field Technical Support team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in design and release, repair process engineering, vehicle diagnostics, maintenance and repair, or automotive service technology.
  • 3–5 years of experience in body and frame design, including welding processes, repair procedures, and industry practices.
  • Experience with vehicle service and repair processes in workshop or mobile environments and/or OTA updates.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into product specifications, repair processes, and engineering requests.
  • Ability to independently design, coordinate, and document maintenance tests and manage cross-functional stakeholders.
