What you will do

  • Manage the buy/plan cycle for assigned mechanical and machined components in the ERP/MRP system, including purchase orders, lead times, and supplier parameters.
  • Review weekly MRP exceptions, reconcile supplier commitments with system requirements, and resolve past-due, rescheduling, and quantity issues.
  • Monitor supplier on-time delivery and purchase price variance, prepare recurring reports, and escalate performance trends.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Production Control, Engineering, Quality, Accounts Payable, and suppliers to resolve capacity, receiving, invoice, and non-conformance issues.
  • Support new part introductions and engineering changes by coordinating planning parameters, first-article activities, and supplier timing.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize planning parameters, automate EDI and reporting workflows, and reduce manual spreadsheet-based work.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of related buying or planning experience and a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as Microsoft AX, Oracle, SAP, or similar.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling, and analysis of large datasets.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications for machined components, with experience in CNC, casting, forging, or sheet metal sourcing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with suppliers and coordinate cross-functional purchasing and planning activities.
  • Ability to perform duties in compliance with FDA and state regulations and standards including ISO 13485.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical devices or aerospace.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • APICS/ASCM certification such as CPIM or CSCP, or progress toward certification.
