Senior Engineer - Interior Trim (Automotive)

Location: Southfield, Michigan, USA; onsite. Applicants must have immediate, ongoing, valid, and permanent eligibility to work full time in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Develop interior components and systems, including hard trim, soft trim, instrument panels, door trims, consoles, and headliners.
• Contribute to packaging, engineering release, and vehicle launch activities across the electric vehicle portfolio.
• Create components focused on luxury, craftsmanship, performance, safety, ergonomics, and functionality.
• Collaborate with marketing, design, vehicle engineering, and interior trim suppliers.
• Develop effective tools and innovative approaches to support accelerated product development and on-time delivery.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience leading the development of automotive interior components and systems.
• Knowledge of automotive interior systems, industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities.
• Experience creating technical product specifications and development timelines through SOP.
• Proficiency in CAD for 2D/3D concepts, packaging layouts, and DFM studies; CATIA V5/V6 is preferred.
• Vehicle and product launch experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience completing a full automotive interior program cycle from concept to production launch.
• Knowledge of plastic part design, structural performance, manufacturing technologies, ergonomics, safety, and homologation.
• Experience with materials selection, plastic injection molding, DFM, and GD&T.
• Startup experience, practical hands-on skills, and strong technical communication.
