Mechanical Design Engineer (Interiors)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite at the Santa Clara facility

What you will do

• Design, release, and deliver vehicle interior components and subsystems from concept through production.
• Develop instrument panels, hard and soft moldings, seating, interior lighting, and components supporting self-driving vehicle integration.
• Collaborate with attribute leads, cross-functional engineering teams, manufacturing, engineering partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Support source selection, component specification, and timely delivery for vehicle build activities.
• Use CATIA V5/V6 for packaging, integration, and component detailing while directing CAD design personnel.
• Execute DFMEA and DVP&R activities and resolve fit and function issues during prototype and production builds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of automotive engineering experience designing and releasing interior systems.
• Experience with CAD design tools and processes, including production drawing releases.
• Experience with vehicle interior components such as instrument panels, moldings, seating, or interior lighting.
• Ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively, and manage rapid development cycles and experimental hardware.

• Experience working with industrial design on concept feasibility.
• Proven delivery experience from concept through vehicle launch.
• Creative and critical thinking skills with strong organization and interpersonal abilities.
