Instrument Panel/Center Console – Lead Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Lead the development of center console concepts and component designs through engineering release and vehicle launch support.
• Engineer mechanical, kinematic, and structural components, including A-class surfaces and electronics integration.
• Evaluate material, manufacturing, and design feasibility for console systems.
• Work with suppliers to meet weight, cost, durability, and performance targets.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and leadership to deliver designs within program milestones.
• Ensure compliance with vehicle requirements, quality, performance, cost, weight, and safety objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Chemical, Civil, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering.
• At least 6 years of total work experience, including 4 years in automotive interior trim design and development.
• Knowledge of plastic and metal structures, comfort modeling, prototype development and testing, systems engineering, and plastic injection or blow molding.
• Intermediate skills in design, packaging, A-class surfaces, and 3D modeling; CATIA V5/V6 is preferred.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and specification development.
• Ability to solve complex design problems in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Advanced CATIA V5/V6, design, packaging, A-class surface, and 3D modeling skills.
• Knowledge of plastics and composites molding, tooling, foaming, wrapping, extrusions, attachment systems, and assembly methods.
• Experience interpreting FEA and mold flow simulations.
• Program management, in-plant, or vehicle launch experience.
