Heat Pump Engineer

Location: On-site, field-based role covering Newcastle, UK

Salary: £38,000 basic per year; £45,000 on-target earnings; £2,500 annual bonus, plus overtime and on-call pay

What you will do

• Install low-carbon technology in customers’ homes, starting with air source heat pumps.
• Use heating installation expertise to deliver high-quality customer outcomes and solve installation challenges.
• Review and collaborate on technical specifications and mechanical drawings.
• Work with electricians to commission air source heat pumps.
• Lead an installation crew and empower the team to make on-the-fly decisions.
• Complete training on new renewable technologies at the company’s training centre.

Requirements

• Experience installing boilers and heating systems, with knowledge of heating system design and fault finding.
• Knowledge of domestic hot and cold water systems.
• Experience reviewing and challenging technical specifications and mechanical drawings.
• Minimum NVQ Level 2, or equivalent experience, in plumbing and heating.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Basic electrical competency is beneficial; hydraulic systems, CIBSE, MCS, and F-gas knowledge are not essential.

Nice to have

• Air source heat pump installation experience.
• WRAS Water Supply Regulations qualification.
• UHW10/HWSS Unvented DHW Storage Systems qualification.
• Gas Safe certification.
• BPEC Level 3 or equivalent in heat pump installation.
