TL;DR
Quality Engineer - Energy (ISO 9001/Water and Wastewater): Leading and assuring quality management systems for projects involving mechanical pumping systems, electrical installations, control and instrumentation, and WIMES-compliant equipment with an accent on audits, supplier quality, testing, and commissioning. Focus on developing PQMPs, managing NCRs and corrective actions, conducting FAT/SAT oversight, and evidencing compliance through project handover.
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom; hybrid with on-site attendance
Salary: GBP 40,000–60,000 per year

What you will do
- Develop, implement, and maintain project quality processes aligned with ISO 9001.
- Prepare and manage Project Quality Management Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, NCRs, corrective actions, and quality records.
- Plan and conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits involving clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and certification bodies.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, equipment inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Lead root-cause investigations, preventive actions, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advise project managers, engineers, site teams, clients, and suppliers on quality risks and compliance.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and experience developing Project Quality Management Plans.
- Experience with NCRs, corrective and preventive actions, quality documentation, internal and external audits, and supplier quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater pumping systems, MEICA installations, mechanical and electrical works, and ICA systems.
- Ability to interpret pump curves, electrical schematics, cable calculations, and instrumentation datasheets.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent military experience; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification required.
- NEC3 accreditation, understanding of WIMES standards, and CSCS/SMSTS or equivalent SHE qualification; BPSS clearance is required or must be obtained.
Nice to have
- CQI Practitioner or Chartered membership.
- Water industry or AMP programme experience.
- NDT or welding inspection qualifications such as CSWIP or PCN.
- CompEx or electrical authorisation familiarity.
