Energy Centre Engineer

Location: Central London, Farringdon, with travel to other sites within the area

Salary: £46,636–£58,937 per year, plus a standby retainer of approximately £4,000 per year and a London Allowance of up to £3,550 per year for eligible candidates.

What you will do

• Complete routine and emergency maintenance on CHP engines, boilers, pump systems, electrical and control systems, and customer connection equipment.
• Respond to equipment faults, inspect plant, identify improvement opportunities, and provide technical advice on corrective actions.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver mechanical, electrical, and C&I maintenance activities to improve plant performance.
• Schedule annual maintenance, manage priorities and resources, and support short-term operational planning for up to six months.
• Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota, working one week in four, with overtime paid for call-outs.
• Manage budgets and purchasing authority up to £25,000 in designated task areas.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, with expertise in general engineering principles and a specialist area such as C&I, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• IOSH Working Safely or an equivalent qualification, with clear knowledge of safety practices and management.
• Capability and willingness to achieve the required Authorised Engineer competency level.
• Competence in hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk management.
• Working knowledge of PC-based systems and maintenance or information management systems, including CMMS.
• Planning, organisational, prioritisation, resource management, and process improvement skills.

Nice to have

• Forklift licence and experience.
• Contract management skills for challenging contractors on work methods, quality, and standards.
• HV SAP experience under hirify.global Safety Rules.
