HVAC Engineer - Nuclear (HVAC/Nuclear Engineering): Designing and delivering ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, and chilled water systems for safety-critical nuclear facilities with an accent on reactor island environments, contaminated-air treatment, and regulatory compliance. Focus on developing concept and detailed designs, producing technical calculations and documentation, and integrating solutions across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Location: Derby, Warrington, or Manchester, United Kingdom; on-site work required two days per week at one of the sites.
Salary: GBP 40,000–60,000 per year.

What you will do
- Deliver HVAC system designs for nuclear facilities across concept and detailed design phases.
- Design ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, and chilled water systems for reactor island facilities.
- Develop systems for extracting, treating, and reducing particulates in contaminated air before atmospheric discharge.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, drawings, and other HVAC design documentation.
- Collaborate with system leads and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integration and performance.
- Support supplier and stakeholder engagement and present technical solutions at design reviews.
Requirements
- 3–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles applied to HVAC systems.
- Experience developing HVAC designs from concept through detailed definition.
- Experience writing and checking HVAC technical documentation and conducting design trade-off studies.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- BPSS clearance is required, or candidates must be willing to complete the clearance process.

- Experience in nuclear or other safety-critical industries.
- Familiarity with verification and validation techniques.
