Project Manager, Energy Modeling (Energy Modeling)

Location: 151 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036, USA; projects focus primarily on Massachusetts, with potential national and international work.

What you will do

• Manage high-profile sustainability and energy modeling projects for commercial, residential, assembly, natatorium, and art gallery buildings.
• Review field conditions and design documents and represent relevant building details in energy models.
• Perform advanced energy modeling for high-rise buildings using DOE 2.2 or EnergyPlus in accordance with ASHRAE standards.
• Model HVAC systems, perform energy audits and benchmarking, and conduct measurement and verification.
• Analyze energy savings and lifecycle costs for building envelope, lighting, HVAC, plug loads, and energy management systems.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports, review team deliverables, and advise project teams on cost-effective sustainability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering, physics, or architecture.
• 3–5 years of experience in a consulting environment performing energy analysis for US-based projects.
• Thorough knowledge of New York State and New York City Energy Codes and energy efficiency in large, complex buildings.
• Thorough knowledge of DOE 2.2 or EnergyPlus; primary IES knowledge may be acceptable when complemented by DOE 2.2 experience.
• Proven project management, communication, writing, and external stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft software, particularly Excel, plus basic AutoCAD and Revit skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer or Registered Architect accreditation.
• Experience with Passive House International or Passive House Institute US systems and tools such as PHPP and WUFI Passive.
• Knowledge of the HERS Index, THERM, WUFI, CFD software, or IES.
• Computer programming knowledge and experience developing custom analysis tools.
