Controls Installation Technician (HVAC/Controls)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina; field-based work conducted on-site at customer locations

Salary: $15.07–$26.37 per hour

What you will do

• Install building automation and temperature control systems, including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices.
• Interpret control drawings, building plans, and specifications while preparing materials and coordinating installation with other trades.
• Service assigned products and equipment by identifying, diagnosing, and repairing control systems at customer locations.
• Act as a direct customer contact and support customer satisfaction on assigned projects.
• Maintain inventory, vehicles, tools, equipment, installation records, paperwork, and service documentation.
• Follow strict safety and asset-accountability procedures while travelling regularly, working overtime when required, and staying overnight occasionally.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and typically 2–5 years of HVAC or controls experience.
• Knowledge of low-voltage electricity, electronics and board-level troubleshooting, direct digital controls, and building control techniques.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and handheld devices such as smartphones or iPads.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations or preventable collisions during the previous three years.
• Ability to travel regularly, work overtime and occasionally stay overnight as business needs require.

Nice to have

• Technical school or formal training.
• Previous experience with DDC control systems.
• Current or future participation in an ABC electrical apprenticeship program.
