VP Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Set the software engineering strategy, multi-year technical roadmap, standards, tooling, and technology-stack direction.
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development and automation across software design, build, testing, and release.
• Define engineering productivity goals using DORA, cycle-time, and time-to-release metrics.
• Establish architecture direction and design standards for security, reliability, performance, cost, operability, data, and integration.
• Lead the Head of Development, Cyber Development Lead, and Enterprise Architect while shaping the engineering organization and operating model.
• Advise executive leadership on investment, build-versus-buy, platform, and major technical decisions.

Requirements

• Experience leading software engineering functions at scale and delivering major improvements in engineering practices and throughput.
• Practical experience introducing AI and automation into software engineering with standards, golden paths, scaffolding, and documentation foundations.
• Deep knowledge of Continuous Delivery, DevOps, cloud, and engineering productivity measurement.
• Strong architecture background, including setting direction across a complex integrated estate and leading a Technical Design Authority or similar forum.
• Experience with engineering strategy, re-platforming, organization design, operating models, culture change, and leadership development.
• Executive-level influence and experience managing vendors and partners.
