Principal Software Engineer (Scala)

What you will do

• Lead the design and delivery of core logistics and order management services.
• Define architecture for distributed, API-first microservices.
• Build fulfilment, shipping-label, and real-time tracking systems.
• Set engineering standards for clean code, testing, performance, and reliability.
• Scale infrastructure and tooling for international growth.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams while writing production-grade Scala code.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building large-scale, customer-facing systems.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Solid cloud experience, preferably with AWS.
• Experience in high-throughput, high-reliability environments.
• Strong understanding of system design, performance, and scalability.
• Ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on.

Nice to have

• Experience in eCommerce, fintech, or logistics platforms.
• Exposure to functional programming.
• Experience integrating external carriers, payment systems, and APIs.
• Strong database optimisation experience.
