Staff Software Engineer - Backend

What you will do

• Build and operate Lakebase platform services, including database lifecycle management, compute standby, high-availability failover, and control-plane logic.
• Develop the Lakebase Proxy data path for Postgres, HTTP, WebSockets, and Data API traffic.
• Design reliable, secure, and high-performance services and client libraries for large-scale data storage and access.
• Work on distributed systems, service architecture, workflow orchestration, monitoring, and developer experience.
• Identify downtime causes, remove root causes, define SLIs, meet SLOs, and drive long-term reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of production-level experience with Java, Scala, C++, or a similar language.
• Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with SaaS platforms or service-oriented architectures.
• Knowledge of SQL.
