TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Electromechanical Systems): Designing and analyzing complex electro-mechanical components, rotating equipment, and machinery with an accent on testing, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and design documentation. Focus on leading technical teams, reconciling predicted and actual test results, supporting failure investigations, and developing equipment for defense and nuclear applications.

Location: Cheswick, Pennsylvania, United States; hybrid schedule with work from home 1 to 2 days or a 9/80 schedule. Due to Department of Defense requirements, candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.

What you will do

  • Design and analyze complex electro-mechanical components, systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Conduct experiments, testing, data analysis, and technical studies; prepare analysis and test reports.
  • Plan and coordinate complex engineering solutions, including documentation, technical presentations, and design reviews.
  • Support equipment build, installation, debugging, testing, failure investigations, and bid responses.
  • Lead technical teams in product design, analytical activities, and production support.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and support their professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10 years of experience in the manufacture and design of engineered products.
  • Experience with rotating equipment and machine designs, including motors, pumps, generators, and propulsors.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, GD&T, CAD systems, and CAE systems.
  • Ability to create models and drawings, conduct trade studies and design reviews, coordinate multiple responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • US citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance are required.
