Maintenance Technician Rotating Night Shift (Biotech)

Location: Onsite at the Amgen Rhode Island manufacturing site in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, United States. The role works a rotating 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM; onboarding for 2–6 weeks follows an administrative Monday–Friday schedule from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What you will do

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing and laboratory equipment and systems.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance according to site procedures, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
• Diagnose equipment issues, escalate complex problems, and communicate equipment status with operators and maintenance colleagues.
• Complete accurate work-order documentation in the computerized maintenance management system.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide maintenance support during nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus one year of utility operations, maintenance, or military experience, or an associate degree.
• Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and equipment documentation.
• Ability to perform maintenance tasks with guidance from senior technicians or supervisors.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Ability to work the required rotating night schedule and overtime as needed.

Nice to have

• Three or more years of combined education, training, or experience in mechanical maintenance.
• Exposure to sanitary processing equipment and systems.
• Experience in a regulated cGMP manufacturing environment.
• Experience documenting maintenance work orders in a CMMS such as Maximo.
