What you will do

• Underwrite complex individual disability insurance cases from start to finish and make sound decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Provide underwriting consultation and service to agents, brokers, field office staff, and business partners.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to support customer understanding and business placement.
• Act as a product and underwriting subject matter expert through training, industry events, conferences, and partner education.
• Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders through collaboration and effective communication.
• Influence process improvements, support operational excellence, and mentor less experienced underwriters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of experience underwriting individual disability insurance.
• $15,000 or more approval authority in individual disability insurance underwriting.
• Strong underwriting judgment, risk assessment, communication, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7 or more years of experience underwriting individual disability insurance.
• Approval limits of $20,000 or more for IDI, $50,000 or more for BOE, or $750,000 or more for Buy Sell without a second signature.
• Completed exams toward DIA/DIF, AALU/FALU, FMLI, or similar industry designations.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
