Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote

Salary: $200,000–$230,000 per year, plus stock options, benefits, and additional perks.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Set technical direction and translate ambiguous product and customer needs into clear engineering priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Guide architecture and critical design decisions for scalable, reliable, and secure production systems.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, customer-facing teams, and engineering leadership to deliver complex initiatives from idea through production.
• Use AI-native development tools and workflows to increase engineering velocity while maintaining standards for correctness, security, reliability, and production readiness.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• 2+ years managing or technically leading engineers, including hiring, development, and retention of engineering talent.
• Strong technical depth in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or modern web application development.
• Experience leading large, ambiguous technical initiatives from strategy and architecture through execution and production.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments and align Engineering, Product, Data Science, and other stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-powered or AI-native products involving LLMs, agentic workflows, or intelligent automation.
• Experience with AI coding tools and validating generated code through strong engineering judgment.
• Early-stage startup experience or experience as an early engineering hire.
• Experience in insurance, fintech, enterprise SaaS, or other complex regulated domains.
