Manager I, Engineering - Anomaly Detection (AI/ML)

Location: New York, New York, USA; hybrid workplace

Salary: $192,000–$240,000 USD per year, plus equity and potential variable compensation

What you will do

• Lead and develop an engineering team of eight, establishing technical direction, ownership, and execution standards.
• Own the roadmap and delivery of key signal-finding and anomaly-detection systems.
• Partner with product management and applied scientists to build detection systems and evaluation mechanisms for signal quality.
• Build and operate traditional machine learning and LLM-based systems in production at scale.
• Drive AI-native development practices with strong standards for safety, validation, and increasing agent autonomy.

Requirements

• Experience as an engineering manager delivering robust, scalable distributed systems with AI or ML components.
• Distributed systems experience is required.
• Experience with Java, Python, or Go and work in a platform-focused team.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to contribute to product strategy in an ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Experience building and training ML models in production.
• Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Flink or Kafka.
