College Intern - New Product Introduction Engineering (NPI IT Control Systems)

What you will do

• Support vendors with facility and GRE setup, machinery landing, tooling installation, assembly-system debugging, and commissioning for prototype builds.
• Work hands-on with suppliers and engineers to design, modify, customize, install, and test mechanical fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
• Assist with process characterization, gage R&R, NPI experiments, FAT/SAT buyoffs, and experimental builds.
• Perform tooling and gage maintenance and calibration, audit maintenance records, and manage spare parts.
• Operate machinery during prototype build runs and help develop new processes and manufacturing technologies.
• Maintain configuration records for prototype-environment PCs and perform backup, integrity verification, and data recovery across Windows, PLC, leak tester, vision, and offline test platforms.

Requirements

• Current Bachelor’s or Master’s undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Availability for a 5–6 month full-time internship starting in January 2027.
• Ability to apply engineering fundamentals, perform failure analysis and characterization, analyze data, and use statistical process control.
• Ability to design components or subsystems using CAD, integrate designs into existing processes, and create test plans and short-loop test methods.
• Factory automation knowledge, including debugging and troubleshooting PLCs, digital I/O, sensors, switches, motion control, and related hardware and software.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLC ladder programming, basic TCP/IP network configuration and troubleshooting, backup and storage systems, and security or antivirus configuration.

Nice to have

• Machine vision software and hardware experience.
• Ability to read and understand AC/DC schematics.
• Knowledge of Python, C#, or VB.NET.
