Mechanical Engineer Intern (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles)

hirify.global is a deep-tech startup developing autonomous hovering underwater vehicles and robotics-as-a-service solutions for underwater infrastructure in the maritime, energy, and defense sectors.

What you will do

• Assist with the design and fabrication of mechanical components, mechanisms, and electronics housings in CAD.
• Support FEA simulations to assess structural integrity and stress failure risks.
• Create 2D drawings for fabrication and assembly.
• Assemble and test mechanical components in the workshop and real-world environments.
• Participate in sea trials to test and evaluate completed mechanical designs.
• Gather user requirements and develop documentation and test procedures for mechanical quality control and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Autodesk or equivalent engineering CAD design software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with members of other sub-teams.
• Positive learning mindset with the ability to quickly absorb knowledge and apply it to engineering challenges.
• Comfort working with a multidisciplinary team in both office and sea-trial environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with manufacturing methods including CNC, welding, sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding, or composite manufacturing.
