Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Millbrae, California; candidates should reside within the listed ZIP codes: 94005, 94010, 94015, 94030, 94037, 94038, 94044, 94066, 94080, 94128, and 94401. Remote-field work is performed from home and a mobile office or vehicle, with in-person appointments in the assigned territory and occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $78,862.06–$118,245 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claims reports.
• Work with policyholders, agents, and other parties to resolve claims efficiently.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits while providing professional customer service.

Requirements

• Experience handling property claims and the ability to investigate issues, evaluate information, and make well-supported decisions.
• Ability to interpret detailed policies, guidelines, and technical information and apply them accurately.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl through tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required; required training, licensing exams, motor vehicle record checks, and background checks must be completed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.
• Strong knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial building construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
